One dead, two injured after pickup truck collides with motorbike in Banglamung

Banglamung, Chonburi –

A motorbike driver has been pronouced dead while two people have sustained serious injuries after a pickup truck collided with a motorbike in Banglamung last night.

The Banglamung Police was notified of the accident at 10:00 PM on road Number 36 Pattaya – Rayong in the Nong Plalai sub-district.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the motorbike driver, Ms. Newai Peekong, 47, who was unconscious. She was later pronounced dead.

Two other people riding in the pickup truck had sustained serious injuries and were lying in the middle of the road, having been ejected from the vehicle. They were rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance. Their names and ages were not given to The Pattaya News reporters.

Witnesses reportedly told Banglamung police that the Ms. Newai was taking a U-turn when the pickup truck crashed into her motorbike. The witnesses did not state if proper turn signals were being used during the U-turn or if speed was a significant factor in the crash.

The pickup truck crashed into a guardrail following the collision and the driver and a passenger were ejected from the pickup truck into the middle of the road. Neither were reportedly wearing seat belts.

Banglamung police are continuing their investigation and checking CCTV for further potential legal action and to determine the exact fault of the accident.
