Chonburi –

Six primary-school students were rushed to a local hospital after reportedly being bitten by two stray dogs that ran into their school in the Si Racha district, Chonburi, on October 6 of this week.

Si Racha rescue officers arrived at the scene after being alerted of the dog-bite injuries near the Wat Nong Kho School. Five schoolboys and a girl were found with bite wounds to their eyes, face, arms, and legs.

Three more villagers nearby the area were also reportedly attacked by the same stray dogs later in the day. The rescue workers performed first-aid and immediately delivered the injured to a local hospital.

A witness told the officers that a group of students was walking to a co-op shop to buy some snacks during a school break when the two wild dogs reportedly broke a school fence and ran into the school area before starting to attack the children without provocation.

The dogs were also reportedly seen running away from the area to escape the capture and allegedly continuing to attack three other local food vendors nearby the school before disappearing from the scene.

Related authorities later arrived at the reported area to capture the dogs. One of the animals was eventually shot with an anesthetic drug while trying to escape to a restroom of a local shop while the second one was found and subdued at an abandoned field.

A total of nine injured people are reportedly recovering at a local hospital while the captured dogs will be tested for rabies. The Si Racha authorities are also monitoring other stray dogs to prevent the incident from reoccurring.
