A motorbike driver was pronounced dead at the scene after falling off his motorbike and being run over by a school bus in the Mueang Chonburi district yesterday morning.
The Don Huafor Police was notified of the accident at 8:00 AM yesterday in Na Pa.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the body of Mr. Wichan Hengboonmee, 41, from Phetchaburi. He was believed to have died instantly after being run over by the school bus.
The bus driver, Mr. Thongkam Kinnareem, 51, told police that he was on his way to a school. There were no students aboard the bus during the time of the accident.
Thongkam told Pattaya News reporters that he saw a car was backing up causing the victim to lose control trying to avoid the car before falling off his motorbike. Thongkam was not able to stop in time to avoid hitting the victim, he claimed.
Mueang Chonburi police are continuing their investigation for further potential legal action. The driver of the sedan was also questioned but was deemed not at fault.
