Pattaya-
An intoxicated SUV driver who claimed to be a police officer crashed into a sedan in Pattaya early this morning.
The Pattaya City Police were notified of the incident at 4:30 AM in Soi 17 behind the Chai Mongkon Temple in South Pattaya.
Police arrived at the scene to find both vehicles slightly damaged. The driver of the sedan was named as Ms. Sompratana Saelee, 31, who was not injured.
The reportedly intoxicated Thai driver of the SUV, whose name was not given by police at the scene who are investigating the incident, allegedly first refused to come out of the car and was not cooperative according to responding officers.
The driver of the SUV, according to Pattaya Police, claimed to be an “important” police officer and appeared to be talking in circles. He did not, however, provide evidence of his claims. He was taken to the police station on Soi 9 for further investigation of his claims and the incident according to responding police officers.
A witness, a taxi motorbike driver, told Pattaya police that the SUV was swaying across Soi 17 before crashing into Ms. Sompratana’s vehicle.
Police are further investigating the incident and determining exact fault, as well as reviewing CCTV in the area. The Pattaya News has requested for further information regarding the incident from the Pattaya Police and will be following any further updates with the story.
