Cashier arrested after reportedly stealing and using Japanese customer’s credit card at Si Racha golf course

Si Racha, Chonburi-

A female cashier has been arrested after reportedly stealing and using a credit card of a Japanese customer at a golf course in the Si Racha district.

This week police arrested 44-year-old Tanwa Suernwongdit from Chanthaburi, at a casher counter at a golf course on Sanesuk Road in the Mueang sub-district.

The arrest came after a report from a Japanese national who regularly plays at the golf course on weekends and lives and works legally in Bangkok.

The Japanese national received an SMS alert on their mobile phone stating that their credit card was used six times in two days and was flagged for unusual activity. The total amount spent was reportedly almost one hundred thousand baht.

The Japanese national, who wasn’t named, filed a report to Bangkok police. They cooperated with Si Racha police to investigate and identify the suspect.

The suspect reportedly admitted to police that she was responsible for the theft of the credit card and that she needed money to pay for debt incurred during the Covid-19 crisis. However, many of the items purchased appeared to be clothes.

She has been charged with theft and using other people’s electronic credit cards.
