The Governor of The Tourism Authority of Thailand spoke with the Thai press this morning and revealed the first group of tourists under the new Special Tourist Visa will be from China and will be arriving on October 8th.

The group of tourists will be from Guangzhou and about 120 people will fly to visit the Thalang District in the Phuket Province.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, the Governor, stated that Guangzhou has had no recorded locally spread infections of Covid-19 for many months. The group would still be required to go through quarantine and all other required processes including multiple Covid-19 tests. They also all have health insurance as required by the Special Tourist Visa.

Additionally, another group of tourists from China will arrive near the end of October and on November First a group from Scandinavian countries will arrive.

This will be the first group of “tourists” since March of this year. All are “long stay tourists” who will be allowed to stay for up to 90 days on the Special Tourist Visa with the ability for two extensions as well. You can learn more on the Special Tourist Visa below.
