Motorbike driver killed after multi vehicle accident in Chonburi


A young motorbike driver has been pronounced dead at the scene after colliding with a motorbike sidecar that sold food products before being ran over by a passing truck in Panthong.

Lieutenant Colonel Kittikun Ammatrakun of the Panthong Police was notified of the accident yesterday afternoon on Marbpong – Banbueng Road in the Nong Hong sub-district.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the body of the motorbike driver, Mr. Attakorn Praiwanrat, 33. He suffered significant injuries due to the incident to his skull and died nearly immediately according to rescue services that were present. His damaged motorbike was nearby.

A damaged motorbike sidecar was found crashed into a power pole nearby. The driver, Mr. Arthorn Toekun, 37, had also sustained injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

Twenty meters away rescue staff found the truck involved in the incident pulled over on the side of the road. Blood was found on the truck’s wheel.

The truck driver, who wasn’t named, told The Pattaya News that he was driving behind the motorbike and the motorbike sidecar.

Mr. Attakorn reportedly tried to overtake Mr. Arthorn but failed and fell off his motorbike after losing control. The truck driver was unable to stop.

Lieutenant Colonel Kittikun Ammatrakun stated to the Pattaya News reporters that they will be reviewing the circumstances in this particular incident and likely will press reckless driving charges against the relevant parties, most likely the truck driver.
