A sixty-year-old driver has been pronounced dead after his motorbike collided with a pickup truck in Chonburi yesterday.
Captain Sutthiphon Klinudom of the Nong Yai Police was notified of the incident at 6:30 PM yesterday on Road No 344 in Nong Yai.
Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find Mr. Niphon Nokbin, 60, who was unconscious on the road.
He was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance but was later pronounced dead.
His damaged motorbike was found in front of a damaged pickup truck nearby.
The pickup truck driver, Mr. Tanaboon Primphon, 21, told police he was heading back home in Chanthaburi from Nakhon Si Thammarat.
He claimed that the motorbike driven by Mr. Niphon cut directly in front of his pickup truck. He tried to avoid the collision but failed.
However, based on evidence gathered at the scene, Mr. Niphon has been charged with reckless driving causing a fatality.
