Driver survives after his car collides with SUV and overturns in Chonburi

A 21 year old man survived after his sedan crashed into a SUV and then overturned in the Mueang Chonburi District.

The Samet Police was notified of the accident at 4:00 PM yesterday on Sukhumvit Road in the Samet sub-district.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find an over turned sedan on the road. The driver, Mr. Ittiwat Thaworn, 21, had sustained only minor injuries.

Nearby rescue workers found a damaged SUV. The driver Ms. Duangphon Wongchaiya, 46, was not injured.

The SUV driver told police that she was driving slowly. The sedan driven by Mr.Ittiwat crashed into the back of her SUV before overturning.

Mr. Ittiwat told police that he fell asleep at the wheel. However he believed a special religious amulet he wears helped him survive.

Ittiwat warned other drivers to get enough sleep before driving and has reportedly taken responsibility of the accident.
