Young driver seriously injured after falling from bridge following multi vehicle collision

Chonburi-

A large container truck overturned on a bridge in Chonburi yesterday evening, colliding with a motorbike and sending the driver plummeting seven meters off the bridge below, suffering serious injuries.

Mueang Chonburi Police was notified of the accident yesterday at 10:30 AM on Sukhumvit Road in the Tamru sub-district.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find an overturned container truck.

Plastic pellets from the containers were found scattered on the road. Nearby rescue workers found a damaged motorbike still on the bridge.

On the ground, seven meters down under the bridge, rescue staff found Ms. Panna Saewang, 19, who had sustained serious injuries. She was rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance.

The truck driver, Mr Somchai Komonhiran, 61, told police that he was travelling from Rayong to Petchaburi. He reportedly admitted to falling asleep at the wheel.

Police are continuing their investigation for further potential legal action.
