Teacher injured after his sedan crashes in Chonburi, lack of sleep claimed to be factor

Chonburi-

A teacher has sustained serious injuries after his sedan crashed into a tree in Nongyai while he was traveling to Chanthaburi from Bangkok to visit his father yesterday.

Captain Direk Pimpa of the Nongyai Police was notified of the accident on Bueang – Klang Road in the Nong Yai district.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a damaged car crashed into a tree in the middle of the road.

The driver, Mr. Sahachart Suppakun, 55, had sustained moderate injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

He told police that he is a teacher in Bangkok. He was driving from Bangkok heading to Chanthaburi to visit his father.

He stated he became unconscious before the crash and was unsure of the exact reason. He did not have enough sleep before driving, he stated. He also has personal health problems.

Police are investigating his claims and reportedly checked for evidence of medication or alcohol, although the results were not immediately available to the associated press.
