Fire damages hotel next to Pattaya Walking Street

Pattaya-

A fire at a hotel near Pattaya Walking Street last night alarmed both tourists and employees of nearby venues.

Fire fighters were notified of the fire at 10:00 PM at a hotel next to Pattaya Walking Street in South Pattaya. The hotel was located directly behind a large nightclub which some firefighters used to gain access to the fire, causing miscommunication at first on where the fire had broken out. The nightclub was not damaged and not related to the fire.

Fire fighters with four fire engines and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a small three story hotel. The fire was ablaze at a room on the third floor.

It took about thirty minutes to control the fire. The fire started at room number 301. The fire had also spread to room number 302. Both rooms were totally destroyed by the fire.

The hotel owner told police that there was no one living in the rooms when the fire started. It is believed that the fire started from an electric short. Nobody was injured during the fire and due to quick work from firefighters the majority of the hotel and nearby buildings were not damaged.

However, the Forensic Police are continuing their investigation to find the exact cause of the fire. The cost in damages is estimated at about 500,000 baht.

Another fire later in the night destroyed a warehouse, a six story luxury home and alarmed locals in North Pattaya early this morning with early estimates of damages being no less than 100 million baht.
