Small seaplane crashes at Mabprachan reservoir, pilot survives with no injuries

Pattaya-

A small seaplane crashed into the Mabprachan lake area this evening in Pattaya with the pilot surviving with no injuries.

The incident happened at sunset tonight around 6:30 PM at the Mabprachan reservoir located in the greater Pattaya area of Chonburi.

The pilot, 59 year old Narin Lothong, survived the crash with no injuries and was seen calmly waiting for rescue workers on the upside down seaplane. He seemed relatively unfazed despite the crash and gave a solid thumbs up when on land.

Narin, although not going into depth about the incident with The Pattaya News, said the seaplane had experienced engine trouble and had a malfunction. He attempted an emergency landing on the lake but the wheels did not close and caused the seaplane to flip upside down. Narin was able to swim out from the plane without injury.

Nongprue police detained Mr. Lothong and brought him to the police station to investigate if the man had a proper pilot’s license and registration and if he was legally able to fly the plane in the area. A large crowd had gathered to watch the event and saw the crash.
