Man arrested after shooting a gun in public in Pattaya

A man who works at a 7-eleven has been arrested after shooting a gun in public in Pattaya.

Major Chainarong Jitsoonthorn of the Pattaya City Police has arrested 20 year old Thai man Jakkrit Paleang, who is a 7-eleven staff worker in Pattaya today. Seized from him were a handmade handgun with several bullets.

The arrest came after an 18 year old teenager, whose name was withheld, had filed a report to police that he was threatened with a gun by Jakkrit.

Jakkrit later admitted the accusations. He told police that he likes guns. The gun he used he bought for 8,000 baht from a Facebook seller.

He told police that the teenager who reported him intended to make noisy sounds from his motorbike to him. Jakkrit was angry and afraid to be attacked. He opened fire at the ground but claims he did not want to hurt the teenager.

Jakkrit has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a gun in public without a permit and shooting in public.
