Pattaya-

Communication cables caught fire in Pattaya at about noon today and caused a power outage in some parts of the city.

Pattaya firefighters were notified of the fire in Soi Nern Plubwan in front of a 7-11.

Firefighters with multiple fire engines arrived at the scene to find the fire was already ablaze and spreading across a series of mostly communication wires.

It took about twenty minutes to put out and control the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby business.

The cables were heavily damaged and electricity was shut off while staff from the Provincial Electric Authority office worked on cable repairs. They stated the issue caused power outages across the so-called dark side, some lasting extended periods of time.

The exact cause has not been determined by authorities at this time.
