More gold shops identified as being fooled by a gang of fake gold sellers in Chonburi

Another local gold shop has lost an estimated million baht after several suspects are accused of pawning fake gold items in Banglamung. Police have identified more suspect.
Mr. Krit and Mrs. Anda Teanmai who are ‘Thong Nit Tean’ gold shop owners reported to Nongprue police yesterday with 376 Baht worth of gold along with CCTV footage showing the suspects pawning fake gold at their shop.


The Nongprue Police confirmed that one of the suspects was alreadt arrested who was identified as a 43 year old Laotian man named San Untan.

Yesterday, another gold shop victim in Banglamung who saw news articles about the gang filed a police report claiming they had lost 1.2 million baht from members of the gang.


This afternoon, the Nongprue Police confirmed that more suspects were identified, one of who is the Laotian suspect’s wife. Police continue to pursue leads to arrest the other members of the gang.

The gang primarily ripped off gold shop owners, according to police, by coating silver in gold and having a small section of the gold chain, generally the clasp, be actual gold.
