Couple escaped from burning car after lighting cigarette in Chonburi-VIDEO

A couple has escaped from a burning car after they reportedly lit a cigarette in Pattaya today.

Firefighters were notified of the incident at 1:30 AM early this morning in Soi Pratumnak 5.

Firefighters, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a burning SUV. Firefighters managed to control the raging fire after an extended period of time.

The SUV was totally destroyed during the fire. A man and a woman, whose names were not given at their request, sustained multiple injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

The injured couple told The Pattaya News that they parked their SUV on the side of the road. The man lit a cigarette before the SUV caught fire.

They escaped from the fire and asked for help from local residents.

Banglamung police are continuing their investigation to find the exact cause of fire.
