Ban Bueang, Chonburi-

A 57 year old man was killed by a pickup truck in front of his wife while crossing a road in Ban Bueang, Chonburi this past weekend to purchase dinner.

The incident took place at 9:30 PM Saturday night, August 15, on Route 3138 in Ban Bueang near the Tambon sub-district administrative organization offices.

The victim, 57 year old Mr. Pharawong Srisukong, had been staying in a hotel room nearby with his wife, 54 year old Mrs. Somwang Srisukong. Pharawong had crossed the road to purchase grilled chicken and sticky rice from a street vendor and upon returning was struck while attempting to cross the road.

The pickup truck driver, 60, was not named to the press and declined to be interviewed but was described as cooperative and sober by Ban Bueang police. He was detained for further investigation, however, and is likely to be charged with reckless driving.
