Two killed, two injured after seventh story platform collapses at Pattaya area condo construction site

Pattaya-

Two foreign migrant workers were killed and two injured when a platform that was part of scaffolding collapsed at an under construction condo in the Pattaya area today.

The incident happened at 6:30 AM today in the Saensuk area of Chonburi at an under construction 42 story condo. The name of the condo was withheld pending an investigation involving police, the construction contractor and the condo management.

Two foreign migrant workers from Myanmar, who were not immediately named to The Pattaya News, died immediately in the fall. Two other men were injured, one seriously.

According to a witness who works at the site, whose name was withheld at his request as he feared retaliation from his company for speaking to the press, scaffolding collapsed around the seventh floor and the men toppled to the ground seven stories below. The witness claimed this was not the first major accident at this construction site.

Saen Suk police will be holding a meeting with construction site management and condo management tomorrow to determine fault and discuss safety procedures. The condo management refused to speak to The Pattaya News today, citing company policy under a current investigation.
