Allegedly drunk businesswoman arrested and accused of trying to run over pedestrians in Bangkok

Bangkok-

A black Mercedes Benz was reportedly seen swerving and trying to ram pedestrians from Khae Rai Intersection to Rama 6 road of Bangkok yesterday, August 11, around 11:00 PM.

Good Samaritans and rescue volunteers attempted to stop the vehicle along the way but failed. The hit-and-run incident eventually ended an hour later when the car crashed into another vehicle near Tao Poon MRT station.

Officers from Bang Sue police station arrived at the scene a moment later. A large amount of police and other officials had been pursuing the suspect. Two vehicles and four motorcycles were reportedly damaged while several people were injured and immediately taken to a nearby hospital.

Mercedes Benz driver Wishuda Vittayasinthana, 37, was asked to undergo a blood test for alcohol and found with 257 milligrams per cent of alcohol according to Bang Sue police. This is about four times the legal limit in Thailand. She was delivered to Paolo Hospital before being interrogated at the police station.

According to her father, Wishuda was stressed due to her business being allegedly defrauded for millions of baht. She began drinking heavily and left her place before starting the chaotic car accident.

Police Major Watchachira Asawut, Investigator of Bang Sue police station, said that the female driver was detained at the police station for legal proceedings.

Initially, she was charged for drunk driving, reckless driving and colliding with others causing injury and property damage, not stopping the vehicle and providing assistance, and obstructing official duties.
