Thai Cabinet transfers Rayong governor, claims unrelated to Covid19 situation

Bangkok-

The Thai Cabinet in a high level meeting yesterday resolved to transfer the Rayong Governor to a different province.

The official statement from the Cabinet claimed it had nothing to do with the situation in Rayong in which an Egyptian soldier, who later tested positive for Covid-19, broke quarantine and went shopping.

However, comments on Thai social media expressed doubt at this statement, with many claiming that the Governor was being used as a scapegoat for the situation which he had no personal control or supervision over. The Governor was widely praised on social media for his impact and advances to the Rayong province during his time there.

The Governor, Surasak Sirichoti, will be moved to Nakhon Pathom effective October First.
