Accident in Pattaya tunnel injures one, backs up traffic for two kilometers

A sedan collided into the back of a truck carrying a backhoe inside the Pattaya Klang Underpass yesterday which caused traffic to back up for two kilometres.

Captain Alice Puangsawai of the Pattaya City Police was notified of the accident at 5:00 PM at the underpass in Central Pattaya.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a heavily damaged blue sedan and a truck carrying a small backhoe.

The accident had caused traffic to back up for about two kilometres.

The sedan driver, 29 year old Kittipong Tiengpakdee, had sustained moderate injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

The truck driver, 54 year old Boonsong Eieamchukun, who was uninjured, told The Pattaya News that the sedan had collided into the back of his truck at high speed.

Pattaya police are continuing their investigation for legal action and will review CCTV in the tunnel for additional information regarding the incident.
