Thailand announces only one new confirmed case of Covid-19

Bangkok-

At the daily press conference about the Covid19 situation in Thailand the spokesman of the Covid-19 Coronavirus Situation Administration, Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, announced only one new case of the virus in the entire country.

The single case is a Thai male in Narathiwat who had just returned from Malaysia and is considered an imported case. This means there have been zero new locally spread cases for the second day in a row country wide.

The country now has 2,988 total cases with 2,747 people discharged with seven more released yesterday, including a patient in Sattahip making the area clear of Covid-19.

187 people remain in the hospital nationwide. There have been 54 deaths since the start of the outbreak but none in recent weeks.

Despite the nearly non existent number of cases, the CCSA asked for patience in terms of reopening businesses and easing further restrictions, stressing they could not let their guard down yet.

Chonburi has no new cases, marking three weeks in Pattaya without a single new case. The checkpoint restrictions on entering the city ended today.
