Thailand announces six new confirmed cases of Covid-19, five in Yala

Thailand-

The Covid19 Center for Situation Administration, or CCSA, of Thailand announced only six new cases of the Covid19 Coronavirus in Thailand this morning at a daily press conference addressing the disease.

Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, a spokesman for the center, stated that only six new cases had been discovered countrywide yesterday.

Five of those cases were in Yala and came from proactive case finding. Yala is located in the Deep South of Thailand and parts of the province border Malaysia. The Thai Government has said that part of the reason the province has had virus issues is due to illegal crossing of the border of infected individuals from Malaysia. They have worked the past few weeks on ensuring the border is properly secured.

One case came from Bangkok, in a person who was a contact of a prior case.

Chonburi, where Pattaya is located, has gone a week without a single case. Pattaya City has had no cases in over two weeks.

Thailand has had in total 2,960 people infected by the Covid19 Coronavirus. 2,719 have recovered and only 187 people remain in treatment nationwide for the virus. 32 people were released yesterday fully recovered.

There have been 54 deaths in total from the virus, with no new cases listed today.
