Bangkok police have reported that the gunman accused of shooting dead his ex-wife and wounding another woman at a Bangkok shopping mall yesterday afternoon has been arrested.
Mr. Danusorn Numcharoen, 28, was taken into custody about 4.30am on Wednesday.
Mr. Danusorn was apprehended in the village of Huay Mae Phiang in Phetchaburi province. Police did not release specific details of the apprehension.
On Tuesday afternoon, he walked into The Icon Clinic at the Century Movie Plaza and shot dead Piyanut Chatthai, 28. She had been working the front desk at the clinic and the entire incident was caught on CCTV which was later released over the internet. The Pattaya News has chosen not to show the footage out of respect for the family and friends of the victims.
He opened fire with a handgun, consequently hitting Miss Piyanut in the head and the body. He seriously injured a second woman who was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
He faces multiple charges of murder and attempted murder and remains in custody.
His ex wife had recently posted a photo of her divorce papers being finalized from him on social media not long before the incident took place.
The shooting shook up the Century Movies Plaza as this follows a mass shooting at a mall in Korat only weeks earlier that killed dozens of people.
