U Tapeo Airport tightens Coronavirus screening even further, passenger health is top priority

BANGKOK(NNT) – U-Tapao International Airport in Rayong is another airport in Thailand handling flights to and from many Chinese destinations. The airport has implemented health control protocols to check the body temperatures of all arriving and departing passengers using thermal imaging cameras, with quarantine facilities available for passengers suspected of fever.

Scheduled and chartered flights from China continue to land and take off from U-Tapao International Airport where strict health control measures are being enforced. Low cost carrier AirAsia has already cancelled all flights from U-Tapao to China, with Vietjet to follow suit from 2nd February onwards.

Two health control checkpoints have been set up inside the airport with thermal imaging cameras, inspecting both arriving and departing passengers. Any passengers whose body temperature exceeds 37.5 degree celsius will be further tested. There have been no reports of suspect passengers so far.

U-Tapao Airport Director Vice Adm Kritchapol Rengjumnong said today that the airport is implementing strict health screening, and is working with heath control officials in preparation to activate the higest measures if required.
