A transgender has allegedly stolen a wallet containing 27,000 baht, about 840 dollars US, from an Indian tourist at Pattaya Beach early this morning.
A group of Indian tourists led by 46 year old Mr. Vaghela Rakesh Kumar Manubhai reported to Lieutenant Siriwit Wongwanggrom at the Pattaya City Police Station at 4:30 AM this morning, January 28, 2020.
He told police that the suspect, who was clearly transgender, approached them on the beach this morning and asked if they needed help as they looked confused. The victims stated to the police that the suspect seemed to be very friendly and helpful at first.
The tourists told the suspect they were trying to find a taxi to return to their hotel. The “friendly” suspect offered to call a baht bus for them The suspect got on the baht bus with them, they added. A baht bus is a truck taxi, also called a Songtaew, popular in the Pattaya area.
The suspect got off the baht bus before them. Mr. Manubhai later found out that his wallet was gone.
Pattaya police are continuing their investigation and checking CCTV footage nearby to attempt to find the suspect.
