Pattaya Police warn against firework usage on Chinese New Year

Pattaya-

With Chinese New Year just around the corner and celebrations expected to take place across Pattaya, the majority on January 25th, Pattaya authorities are reminding residents and tourists that usage of fireworks is strictly prohibited.

After a British tourist died while lighting a firework on New Year’s Eve in Pattaya, authorities are keen to ensure the incident is not repeated.

Authorities have stated to the press this past week that high fines and potential jail time await anyone caught lighting off fireworks in the city streets and that police will be focusing on vendors and shops selling the items which are against Thai law for personal use.

Inspections of local shops suspected of selling the banned items have already begun, authorities added.
