German expat found dead in Pattaya house

A German expat was found dead in a bathroom at a house in Central Pattaya this afternoon.
Lieutenant Colonel Pitak Nernsang of The Pattaya City Police was notified of the incident around 3:00 PM.
Police and emergency responders arrived at a downstairs bathroom to find the body of a 77 year old German expat face down on the floor. The Pattaya News has chosen to with hold his name pending contact of the German Embassy and relatives.
Police believed that the man died at least five days prior before his body was found.
A neighbor told police that the man has lived at the house alone for more than 10 years and was a longtime resident of Thailand.
The neighbor didn’t see the man smoking in front of the house like he usually did which caused the neighbor to be alarmed and go to check on him.
The neighbor, whose name was not given, told police he smelled a foul odor coming from the house. He then called police.
At this stage police believes that the man has slipped in the bathroom and said there is no sign of foul play. The man was a bachelor and lived completely alone.
