Pattaya –
One woman has died this morning while two people have sustained serious injuries after a pickup truck collided with two motorbikes in Pattaya.
Captain Kanoknan Suksri of the Pattaya City Police was notified of the accident at 2:30AM in Soi Chalerm Phrakiet 6.
Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a damaged pickup truck on the road.
The intoxicated driver of the pickup truck was identified as 28 year old Mr. Sitthiphon Leangjampa, who was not injured and taken into police custody after testing positive for being severely intoxicated. Two damaged motorbikes were found nearby.
The two injured were identified as 59 year old Mr. Sangpilom Arjsorn, who is a motorbike taxi driver and 26 year old Ms. Chalida Distefano who was his taxi motorbike passenger. They were taken to a local hospital and are both expected to recover.
A third injured woman was identified as 42 year old Ms. Supan Pongwiset. She was later pronounced dead after succumbing to her injuries at a local hospital.
Witnesses told The Pattaya News that the pickup truck has collided with the two motorbikes at a curve after losing control at high speed.
Pattaya police are continuing their investigation for further legal action.
