Pattaya –
Three suspects have been arrested by the Banglamung police this morning and are accused of stealing from tourists in Pattaya in drive by thefts.
The Bang Lamung Police Chief Colonel Pattanachai Pamornpiboon told The Pattaya News that they have arrested 22 year old Mr. Saksit Thepchai and 21 year old Ms. Supranee Saardnet this morning.
He said the two suspects have admitted that they snatched a female Russian tourists bag on December 6 in Soi Naklua 14. They got the Balenciaga bag valued at about 60,000 baht with about two hundred USD and 2,000 baht cash. They were caught due to CCTV in the camera and a month long investigation.
Police have also arrested 18 year old Mr. Passakorn Jiarsa.
He admitted that on January 3 he snatched a Chinese tourist’s bag in Soi Naklua 14. He got 10,400 Yuan and 2,000 baht cash as well as a Huawei mobile phone.
All three suspects have been charged with theft and face further legal action. They remain in custody. The Banglamung and Pattaya police stated that several other incidents, including one in Jomtien yesterday morning, are still under investigation. They do not believe the thefts are an organized group but rather copycat thieves and crimes of opportunity.
