Sri Racha –
A Cambodian man has drowned and was pronounced dead yesterday evening, December 31, 2019 after slipping from a boat and hitting his head in Laem Chabang.
Lieutenant Jirasak Wongwai of the Laem Chabang Police was notified of the incident at 5:00PM yesterday at a fishing pier in Udomsuk.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find 35 year old Mr Narin (No last name given), a Cambodian National who had been pulled out of the water by his friends.
Rescue workers attempted to resuscitate Mr. Narin, however, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Witnesses said they saw Mr. Narin had been drinking heavily and was severely intoxicated. Mr. Narin had allegedly attempted to jump from the pier to a boat, a significant distance, and failed, hitting his head on the side of the vessel before falling into the water.
His friends leaped into the water to assist him, however, it took significant time to find him and the fall had apparently knocked Mr. Narin unconscious.
The Lawn Chabang police will be contacting his relatives and the Cambodian embassy to inform them of the incident.
