Police officer dies by suicide in break room at Na Jomtien Police station

Na Jomtien-

On December 28, 2019 in the middle of the afternoon Captain Udom Srimat of the Na Jomtien Police was informed that an officer had shot himself in the break room at the police station.

30 year old Sgt. Yuthana Piankan had shot himself in the forehead with his 9mm service weapon. He had been the only officer present in the break room at the time. This particular break room has beds used for officers to catch up on sleep between shifts or on break. Sgt. Piankan was found on one of the beds.

The exact reason for his death is unknown. Captain Srimat said Sgt. Piankan had several personal problems which may have led to his death by suicide. Captain Srimat told the media that they will be investigating what led Sgt. Piankan to kill himself.

His body was taken to a local medical center and will then be given to his relatives for religious rites.
