Pattaya –
Pattaya Remand Prison Corrections Officers declared Pattaya Provincial Prison drug free after carrying out an official inspection of the facilities, dormitories and conducting random drug tests this morning.

More than 200 officers led by Phonchai Sangiead of Bang Lamung, the Administrative Chief officer, searched the prison this morning.

The prison currently detains 3,225 male inmates and 572 female inmates.
In addition to the search, 300 prisoners were randomly selected for a urine drug test. No drugs were found in the prison and not one inmate tested positive.

The raid was conducted on an order from the Department of Corrections, which ordered a search of all prisons across the country without prior notice.
The Pattaya News notes that this follows a security leak at a prison in South Thailand where CCTV footage was posted on YouTube without permission. Police are still investigating that incident.
