American expat arrested in Pattaya over selling illegal muscle hormones, allegedly member of prominent steriod smuggling gang.

Pattaya –

An American man has been arrested in Pattaya yesterday afternoon, December 27, 2019, after being caught allegedly selling illegal muscle hormones.

A team of police led by Regional Commander Dullayapat Techapornyasin of the Region 2 Investigation Division yesterday have arrested 66 year old Jerry Robert Nielsen, American national at a bakery restaurant on Thrappraya Road.

Police have conducted a sting operation to buy ten boxes of muscle hormones called ‘ANSOMONE’ for 75,000 baht. When they showed up to purchase the hormones Mr. Nielsen was arrested with the items in his possession.

Nielsen is also allegedly a leading member in an organized gang who was selling illegal muscle hormones in Chiang Mai.

Another member in the gang , Mr. Joshua Paul Pate, 42, had been arrested in Chiang Mai in February of this year with an illegal muscle hormone of the brand name ‘ATLAS’.

Nielsen had allegedly fled Chiang Mai after the other individual was arrested. Mr. Pate was sentenced to over ten years and a 400,000 baht fine. Mr. Pate was also on overstay for several years and faces charges back in Texas as well. Several other members of the gang remain at large. Police released a chart of members of the gang which can be found below.

Nielsen has operated a motorbike rental service for foreigners in Pattaya which generated at least 500,000 baht a month, according to Pattaya Police.
