Russian passenger allegedly steals cell phone at Bali Hai pier

Pattaya –
A Russian passenger has allegedly stolen a mobile phone from a crew member on a boat at the Bali Hai Pier.

The Marine Safety Control of the Pattaya City reported Sunday at 4:00PM that they were notified from a boat crew member of the alleged theft.

The boat crew member told them that the cell phone valued at 6,000 baht had been left near an engine room.

The crew member was adamant that someone had picked up the phone. Police checked the bags of every passenger departing and located the phone in the bag of a Russian passenger who was not named.

The passenger was trying to walk away after giving the cell phone back to officers. He was talking in circles and had initially also tried to avoid the bag checkpoint. Despite these actions that officials called suspicious the man adamantly denied stealing the phone and any wrongdoing.

The cell phone’s owner didn’t file an official report to police and decided not to press charges. The Russian man has since been released.
