Thief pretends to be a good Samaritan for a handicapped German tourist in Pattaya, pickpockets him instead

Pattaya –
A Thai person who has pretended to help a handicapped German male tourist stole money from him in Pattaya early this morning.

Lieutenant Chonlawit Athipansri of the Pattaya City Police was notified of the incident at 1:30AM on Central Pattaya Road in Nongprue.

Police and The Pattaya News rushed to the scene to find 55 year old Mr. Schuldt Arno, a German national.

He is handicapped and uses a cane to help him stand. He told police that while he was slowly trying to cross the road, a person who looks like a woman but may be transgender approached and offered to help him across the road.

He thought that she was helping him. He said thank you to her before she had left after she helped him cross the road. He later discovered that 3,000 baht in cash had disappeared from his shorts.

Police are hunting for the suspect and checking CCTV footage nearby.
