Thai man arrested on Walking Street in Pattaya with a machete threatening tourists

Pattaya –
A man has been arrested after brandishing a machete while in the Pattaya Walking Street area early this morning.

The Pattaya Tourist Police and The Pattaya News was notified of the incident at 2:30AM. They arrived at the scene to find a Thai man who was identified as Somnueak Chatree.

He was holding a long machete and walking in the Pattaya Walking Street, allegedly threatening random passerby and scaring tourists.

Police and good Samaritans nearby wrestled him to the ground. He told police that he had argued with other staffers nearby and as a result took the machete to the busy tourist street for protection. He was in a state of pure rage, however, police did not state if he was on alcohol or drugs. He was wearing the uniform of a popular seafood restaurant on Walking Street.

He was taken to the Pattaya City Police Station for further legal action. He was not cooperative with police and required several officers to take him down and disarm him.
