Three people have died, including a young boy, after a car crash at 5:00 AM this morning in Sattahip on Royal Road 331. A five year old boy survived the accident nearly uninjured after being thrown from the vehicle.
The investigation was led by Lieutenant Boonyong Yuenyong of the Huay Yai Police who responded to the single vehicle crash involving a red Nissan Note.
The vehicle had collided at high speed with a light pole and then fell into a ditch at which point the vehicle caught fire and exploded. A five year old boy miraculously survived with minor injuries when he was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. He was taken to Banglamung hospital.
A witness, Mr. Chairat Thuenchana, 26, told the Pattaya News that after the accident in which the driver appeared to lose control himself and other local residents attempted to free the victims, a man, woman and another boy from the vehicle. However, the car caught fire and they had to retreat to a safe distance and call emergency services.
Police officials stated that they believe the driver was on opium based on preliminary evidence they have collected leading to the accident.
The names of the victims or of they were related was not released pending contact of surviving family members.
