Local Pattaya residents flock to pray to a tree to win the Thai lottery

Always searching for a sign of good fortune, lottery gamblers flocked to a Sattahip coconut tree which they claimed looks like a Naga’s head.

The 8-month-old tree is located in the backyard of the Soi Khao Petch home of Somsak Nukajad, 56. He said he noticed about a month ago that the tree had been growing into the shape of the semidivine half-man, half-cobra.

The belief is that the tree contains a spirit and that if one prays to the spirit it will deliver them winning lottery numbers.

This comes the same week as many residents in Central Thailand flocked to a temple to pray to a piece of wood believed to also have a spirit trapped inside.
