Norwegian man dies in early morning condo fire in Pattaya

Pattaya –
A Norwegian man has died after a condominium in Pattaya caught fire this morning.

Lt Col Chanikarn Pueanpinit of the Pattaya City Police was notified of the incident at 5AM at a popular condominium in south Pattaya. The name of the condo has been withheld pending an upcoming investigation.

Firefighters, emergency responders, police and The Pattaya News rushed to the scene to find the 16 level condominium where people were escaping from smoke and on the street.

Fire and smoke were found in a room on the 9th floor. It took about one hour to control the fire.

Inside the room, which was totally damaged, they found the body of the Norwegian man, age 66, on the bed. His remains were taken to a local hospital. His name has also been withheld pending embassy and relative contacts.

However, forensic police are continuing their investigation to find the cause of fire. At this time the cause is unclear.
