Thai Government says now is the time to promote road safety, 22,000 deaths from accidents in Thailand a year

Deputy Interior Minister Nipon Bunyamanee has urged related authorities to step up measures to reduce road accidents and promote road safety.

He made the remarks while presiding over a seminar on road safety in Khon Kaen province on Friday (October 25).

He said the number of Thai people killed in road accidents was more than 22,000 a year. What is more alarming is the total number of people killed in road accidents over the past 15 years is 400,000.

The ministry will promote a campaign on driving safety in all districts, which will be implemented by the existing local road safety centres. This will include new signs, brochures, commercials and articles in magazines and newspapers.
