Early Sunday Morning around 2:30AM, February 4th, 2018 the Paet Bid Bar located on Pattaya Third Road was raided by police and administrative officials from the Pattaya area based on a tip from local residents. This bar is located and administrated by the Banglamung district in Chon Buri. Upon arriving and turning on the lights the officials were surprised and disappointed on what they discovered at the disco.
The raid, led by Pichet Thamhon, assistant chief of Banglamung District, discovered a total of 59 (fifty-nine) underage patrons drinking. In Thailand, the legal drinking age is twenty. Some patrons were stated to be as young as fourteen years old. Officials rounded up and detained a total of 35 men and 24 women, all under the legal drinking age of twenty years old.
The owner of the bar, whose name is not available at time of publishing, was charged with selling liquor without a license, allowing underage people to use the premises and selling liquor to a minor. The legal licensing time for this area of town is 2:00AM and although the bar did have a liquor and business license, it does not have a license to operate past 2:00AM.
Officials stated that after detaining the teenagers they were released to their parents and guardians.
